Kathleen “Sue” Guetschow, 91, of Beloit, WI, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. Sue was born March 20, 1933, the daughter of George and Leona (Broiher) Bryan in Neillsville, WI. She graduated from Neillsville High School, class of 1952 and also attended Blackhawk Tech. Sue met and married Donald Guetschow while working at Fairbanks Morse. They were married on June 5, 1954 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Beloit, WI. He preceded her in death on December 12, 2015.
Sue grew up on a farm and proved to be a hard worker among her thirteen other siblings. She was a lifelong resident of Beloit. Sue was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She worked at Fairbanks Morse as one of the first female draftsperson and was also employed at the Beloit Corp and Envirovac, retiring in 1998. Sue was active in the Newark Beloit 4-H club for many years. She enjoyed making personalized family cards. Sue was an avid gardener, who enjoyed maintaining her flower and vegetable garden. Later in life, Sue loved to sit on the porch with Don and their two Norwegian Forest cats Emily and Dolly with a glass of iced tea and enjoy the day. Sue loved her collies, Molly, Penny & Heather. She will be remembered for loving to work outdoors and of course having her own chainsaw. Sue was a wonderful wife, mother, grandma and great grandma who loved her family more than anything in the world.
Survivors include her four children, Sherry (Jim) Perry, Gary (JoAnn) Guetschow, Donna (Scott) Hanson and Scott (Denise) Guetschow; her grandchildren, Susan (David) Rick, Jennifer (Dan) Clemmerson, Sarah (Jaydon) Mathias, Shawn (fiancé Barbara Chaparro) Guetschow, Kyle (fiancé Hannah Butcher) Guetschow, Ryan (fiancé, Jill Seidl) Guetschow, Matthew (Katie) Hanson, Taylor (Nathan) Meske, Grant Guetschow, and Grace Guetschow; her great grandchildren, Braden & Grady Rick, Hope & Maverick Clemmerson, Levi Mathias, Hayden & Skyler Guetschow, Blakely, Ivy & Cole Hanson; her sisters Jeannie (Ron) and Judy, her brothers Robert (Berta), Donnie, Dell (Joyce), Dave (Betty) & Joe and her companion cats, Ginger & Smokey.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings Viola, George Jr., John, Wayne, Dean & Bonnie and one grandson, Tyler Guetschow.
The family would like to thank the staff at Beloit Regional Hospice, Beloit Memorial Hospital, Meals on Wheels and her special friend & neighbor, Diane Riesen for the care they gave Sue.
Sue’s Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 20, 2024 at OUR SAVIOR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 749 Bluff Street, Beloit, WI, with Rev. Tony Dusso officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday in Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment in Newark Cemetery will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on our website.
